The Leadership Academy for 30 leaders from four newly affiliated countries(Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) to NSD was graciously held at the Leadership Training Center campus from 30 October to 3 November. The denominational leaders from these four countries were able to complete the Leadership Academy a week ahead of their visit to Korea for the NSD Year-endl Meeting on 7-11 November.
As these countries are strongly Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist rather than Christian, they have faced some challenges in their missions, but they hope that their inclusion in NSD will help them to be more active in their missions.
All lectures of the Leadership Academy was conducted entirely in English. Dr. Daegeuk Nam, professor emeritus of Samyuk University, gave lectures on Minister as a profession (as preacher, evangelist, theologian, and administrator) and a leader's qualification shown through garments of priest; Dr. Petras Bahadur, director of the Islamic Mission Institute of the General Conference, lectured on Muslim mission through the Bible and Qur'an; and Dr. Yohan Kim, president of the Norther Asia-pacific Division, on God's desired leaders in a rapidly changing era. Jonas Arrais, director of the NSD Ministerial Associate, presented Leaders as Administrators; Raquel Arrais, director of the NSD Women's Ministry Department, presented Lessons from the Spiritual Leadership of Jesus; and Dr. Jaeaung Yoon, director of the Leadership Training Center, presented Principles of Motivation and Delegation leadership.
In the morning, the leaders of each country took turns to share gracious word. On the first day, pastor Wonsang Kim, president of Bangladesh Union Mission, on the second day, pastor Umesh Pokharel, president of Nepal Section, on the third day, pastor Myunjoo Lee president of Pakistan Union Mission, and on the fourth day, pastorHyosu Jung president of Sri Lanka Mission delivered precious messages.
After the morning lectures and lunch, the participants had a time of healing tour with the cool autumn breeze in the beautiful nature of Jeju, created by God. They shared friendship as they climbed hills, walked Olle-trail, walked forest paths, and experienced barefoot walking on the beach.
The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to God for this precious learning opportunity and to NSD and the Leadership Training Center for the special consideration given to this work.
They will continue to visit various organisations and institutions within the Korean Union Conference (food factory, hospital, language school, university, publishing house, etc.) before the year-end meeting begins.
